Hannah Harris

Hannah Harris serves as the Assistant Director for Professional Development in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, she served as the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator for Mary Baldwin University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. Her teaching experience includes the design and redesign of lecture and lab-based courses that facilitate the acquisition of content knowledge and clinical decision-making skills. Her experience also includes the design and implementation of project and problem-based learning courses. Outside of teaching, Hannah previously served on the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators for the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) and currently serves as the Virginia Ambassador for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

At CETL, Hannah supports faculty in achieving their teaching related goals through designing and offering professional development workshops and institutes focused on learner-centered teaching and learning strategies.  Hannah partners with other offices across campus to design and implement professional development opportunities with a special focus on adjunct faculty and clinical faculty groups. She also coordinates teaching-related services offered by the Center, including individual Instructional Consultations, Teaching Observations, and Mid Semester Feedback Sessions.

Hannah was born and raised in Salem, Virginia. She earned a B.S. in Psychology and Kinesiology from Shenandoah University and a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Belmont University in 2010. Hannah currently enjoys spending time with her two children, family, friends, and coaching Track and Field locally.
