The center administers three award programs at Virginia Tech, the University Exemplary Department and Program Award (UEDPA), the Outstanding Teaching Scholar Award, and the Project-Based Learning Award.
The UEDPA recognizes the work of departments and/or programs that maintain exemplary teaching and learning environments for students and faculty. The Outstanding Teaching Scholar Award recognizes scholarship of teaching and learning that involves rigorous examination and investigation of one’s own classes and/or academic programs at Virginia Tech and is designed to recognize teaching faculty members who have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of scholarship addressing higher education pedagogy in their teaching. The Project-Based Learning Award is designed to recognize faculty, or teams of faculty, who have incorporated project-based learning pedagogy into or across their courses, demonstrating a positive impact on student learning.
In addition, the center manages nominations for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) Outstanding Faculty Awards program, which recognizes faculty member excellence in teaching, research, and service in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
